Unfortunately, with the rise of jobs, social media and other distracting media, we have stopped enjoying the company of each other. In these challenging times, festivals, events and functions are prominent in bringing loved ones and families together.

Diwali has been related to various folklore and folktales; according to legends, one popular belief is that “Lord Rama” set his foot back to his motherland and kingdom “Ayodhya”. As per “Ramayana”, an epic Hindu tale, Lord Rama was about to become the king of Ayodhya, but fate and destiny had other things planned for him. Kaikeyi, the stepmother of Lord Rama, wanted her son to be king of Ayodhya; thus, she asked a previously granted wish for “king Dashrath”, father of Lord Rama, that Rama should be sent in exile for 14 years and her son should be awarded the authority and crown of the king.
Hearing these heartbreaking wishes of “Raja Dasrath”, Lord Rama being an idol son, left his kingdom for 14 years. He was accompanied by his wife and brother Laxman. He struggled to fulfil his exile for 14 years; they survived searching for food and shelter.
In the middle of this survival struggle and wandering in the forest, Maa Sita is abducted by demon King “Raavana” as revenge for disrespecting his sister Surpanakha by Laxman. Lord Rama fought and defeated Raavana and protected Maa Sita from the claws of the demon king.
After defeating and completing his 14-year exile, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya, where he was welcomed by his brothers and all the citizen of the dynasty.
