The Hindu deity Lord Shiva, the Nandi Bull, and his son are shown in a stunning Kalighat painting. Lord Shiva stands in for the element of the Supreme Being (Brahman of the Upanishads) that perpetually dissolves in order to regenerate. The bull that Shiva uses as his mount is known by the name Nandi. Shiva's primary mode of conveyance and devoted follower is reported to be Nandi. In a same vein, Nandi is revered as Shiva's protector and gatekeeper, as well as Shiva's consort, the Hindu Goddess Parvati. In numerous Shiva temples around Asia, he might be seen reclining and guarding the main temple. This painting is from our kali ghat collection from Bengal. Available in size 28"x28" in excellent condition.
