An image of Vishnu as the fish-incarnation Matsya, dressed in a yellow dhoti, striking a conch demon with his mace (gada) as he emerges from the jaws of a big fish, is a lovely Kalighat painting . Everything in creation vanished and was covered by water. The four Vedas, the most cherished texts of Hindu history, were taken from Brahma by one of the god's enemies, who then vanished with them into the depths. They were eventually found with Vishnu's assistance. This painting is from our kali ghat collection from Bengal. Available in size 28"x28" in excellent condition.
